At some point, before she could remember, someone put a pencil in Kasandra McNeil's hand. Little did anyone know that such a small gesture would become a life-changing experience for her.
She grew up on a farm in Central Illinois, but would travel frequently to Kentucky to visit relatives and explore the farm her grandparents owned in Western Pulaski County. When her family moved to the farm in 2003, she set up a studio in the upstairs of the farmhouse her grandfather built in 1939.
Today, McNeil also has a studio at Artists' Attic in Lexington. She is a member of Oil Painters of America, Sheltowee Artisans, Plein Air Artists of Central Kentucky, and Plein Air Artists of the Bluegrass. Her work has been exhibited at juried shows throughout Kentucky and Central Illinois, including Artists' Attic, the Lexington Public Library, the Danville Community Arts Center, the Carnegie Community Arts Center, Oil Painters of America's Online Showcase and the Norton Centre, to name a few.
McNeil specializes in portraits, still life, and landscapes. She does a number of portraits in both oil and pencil sketches for clients across the U.S.
